The weather served as the icing on this wedding-cake of a perfect June day at the lovely Lafayette Club on Lake Minnetonka. The bride and her family have been dear friends of mine for over a decade, so coordinating this wedding was a labor of love! The fact that the bride was a former wedding planner herself made my job even nicer. Whatever detail one of us didn't think of, the other one did. We had so much fun in the process that we ended up nicknaming each other "Lucy & Ethel!"
Planning an outdoor ceremony is never without the element of stress. We believe that the bride's late grandmother sent this perfect day, 75 degrees and sunny, straight from heaven! The tent, provided by Ultimate Events, was set up with clear panels to let in natural light, and draping to provide some shade. Once again, our handmade cross by Tom Lehmann took center stage, with adornment by the incomparable Melissa from Sadie's Floral.
A new stationery vendor appeared on the scene for this event, and she knocked it right out of the park. Check out the pieces created by Megan Bauer from Northern Vine Design. She crafted the most beautiful invitations, welcome poster, programs, escort cards and signage we've ever seen! Best of all, she is a dream to work with.
The massive head table, placed in the center of the ballroom underneath those crystal chandeliers, featured a silky damask linen which draped like rich cream. The bride sourced an eclectic collection of vintage china that served as chargers on the head table -- so creative and unique! Her vision of a whimsical garden party was executed to perfection by Sadie's Floral, and included their beautiful white vases and yummy votive collection. A mixture of tall and low bouquets helped to fill the massive space and brought interest to the tables.
Plated dinners for all guests were followed by phenomenal cupcakes made by Sammy's Sweets, a local company started by an autistic boy and his mother. We adored their display almost as much as the delicious little one-bit marvels they made for the event!
Fun fact: the bride and this planner are HUGE Disney fans. The soundtrack to "Beauty & The Beast" was blasting in the ballroom as our team steamed all of the linens. Cassie, who played the part of Belle in a live production of "Beauty & The Beast," even came down and sang a verse for us before she got dressed! At the guest table, a subtle nod to her favorite Disney film was found. The "Be Our Guest" sign, enchanted rose, teapot and cup, and candelabra all evoked memories of a "tale as old as time." The couple's clever hashtag #beautyandthebormann was another nod to her favorite fairy tale on her fairytale day.
The bride surprised her father with an old home video played for all to see, as little 4-year-old Cassie sang Billy Joel's "You May Be Right" with her dad, to the crowd's delight! Billy Joel's "Lullabye" was the song chosen for the father & daughter dance, and not a dry eye was found in the room.
Guests danced the night away in the Ballroom, played our "Bride & Groom" custom bags game and relaxed with cigars on the terrace, and socialized in the Lakeview Room. This venue was perfect for this adorable couple and their big Italian family. It was a day we'll never forget!
